What we believe ??

If you’re hoping an exhaustive list of beliefs that identify our ‘unique' ‘brand’ of Christianity, you are gonna be a little disappointed at this page.

We’ve don’t really love how Church websites basically tell you THEY think you have to believe to be a ‘faithful’ Christian. The lists change church by church, website by website, but the intent is the same. The list of beliefs identifies the beliefs THAT CHURCH thinks are essential to being a faithful Christian.

So rather than us telling you what you have to believe to be a Christian, let us first share with you the faith the Church has affirmed from the 1st Century.

The apostles creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen.”

Not everyone in our congregation believes this creed literally… and you don’t have to. As with all statements they need to be interpret and can be interpreted in many a different ways.

Not everyone believes every line with the same enthusiasm.

Most of us at one point in our life have wondered if we really, truly believe any/most of it.

And yet for us, to be a Christian is to stand in and on what from the very beginning all Christians have believed… Lord help our unbelief.
